Every price on this site is a weekly average published by the U.S. Energy Information Administration. It is not the price at any particular station, and it may differ from the sign at your local pump by 20 to 40 cents or more. Always check the posted price before you buy fuel.

No forecast, no advice

Nothing on this site is a prediction of future prices, an investment recommendation, or financial, legal, or tax advice. Articles explain how prices are determined; they do not tell you when to buy, sell, or invest.

Data currency

Price pages are dated by survey week. A page built from the week ending on the date shown may be several days old by the time you read it, and markets can move quickly after a refinery outage or a hurricane. The date on the price panel is the authoritative statement of how current the number is.

Calculators are estimates

Calculators use the inputs you provide and simple arithmetic. They do not account for tolls, parking, maintenance, depreciation, traffic, weather, elevation, or driving behaviour. Results should be treated as planning estimates, not precise bills.
